Picnics and day trips
Take a traditional Zanzibari dhow to one of the many stunning archipelago islands. Our trips include an exploration of the Menai Bay area, home to the Bottlenose and Indo-pacific humpback dolphin. There are dolphin sightings on 75% of these trips. If wind permitting we sail back to Fumba with the setting sun guiding our way.

Komonda Island Picnic
The dhow with an outboard motor takes you to one of the largest and most abundant reefs in Menia Bay for a snorkel, and then on to the petrified coral islands of Komonda, including a mangrove forest tour. A fabulous buffet lunch is prepared by our chefs and soft drinks are provided.

Pungume Island
Take a beautiful dhow ride to the Pungume reef for snorkeling, and then on to the sandbank with a 360 degree view of the turquoise blue Indian Ocean. A fabulous buffet lunch is prepared by our chefs and soft drinks are provided.

Fishing and snorkel excursions
Fishing includes a beautiful troll with professional deep sea fishing equipment across the Zanzibar Channel.  Many of the local fish we catch include Spanish or King Mackerel, Trevelly, Tuna, and Barracuda. Snacks prepared by the Chefs and soft drinks are included.

Snorkeling trips are available for a half day including fruit and cake… just ask we customize our trips to fit your day.  In August and September there are whales in the Menai Bay area: and we always look forward to a whale watching trip.

Dhow "Sherazade"

Sherazade the Jahazi, was built back in the 60’s to transfer cargo between Zanzibar and Tanzania mainland but sailed as far as Mozambique & beyond. It was in a terrible state by 2008 when we found her, here on Zanzibar. With a lot of love and attention, and tremendous help from Zanzibari Craftsmanship we restored the 15 meters long Sherazade to its old glory, but with all the convenience you can think off, and at present day’s its cruising again in full glory in the Indian Ocean where it belongs.

These days you can enjoy an exclusive (maximum 2 Guest) stunning trip on the Sherazade which will bring you back to the past and the feeling of being a Sultan yourselves. Being a part of Fumba Beach Lodge, it’s a perfect combination of the sea and land we have to offer in the magnificent  Menai Bay Conservation Area and Indian Ocean.
